Arne Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it's expected for concerns to be asked about his position following another heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in twelve games, marking the club's poorest run since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I've received significant support from the top,” Slot remarked.

“It's important to change things and secure a win obviously but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I am OK with my role. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to provide details on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot explained:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “Through standard discussions I perceive the belief. But I've not talked to them after this game so far so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Problems and Player Response

The manager lamented familiar shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, specifically wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I’m past being angry inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a spell like this with outcomes this poor.”

He stated, “However we still have that badge on our shirts. And until that badge is removed, we will always compete.”

“Our aim is to get this team back to where it needs to be, show everyone again the values of this club and the reason it's called the top club in the world.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
