Canada's Blue Jays Claim World Series Matchup Against defending champion Dodgers

The outfielder previously helped the Houston Astros claiming the World Series in the 2017 season.

Toronto's Blue Jays earned a spot in their first World Series after the 1993 season by beating the Seattle Mariners in the seventh Game 7 of the ALCS.

Down by two runs, outfielder George Springer delivered a three-run homer in the seventh inning, propelling the only Canadian franchise in MLB to a four games to three victory in the seven-game series. Next up are the Dodgers, who are the defending champions, in the forthcoming Fall Classic.

"It's incredible for this squad, Toronto, the nation," said Springer, a key player of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 championship. "This is such an incredible feeling."

George Springer has now slugged twenty-three October home runs, making him third all-time trailing only Manny Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).

"There's probably not anyone else in the world that I'd prefer in that moment except for Springer with his October magic," said Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

The Mariners, who had led the early in the series, continue to be the one club yet to make an appearance in a World Series.

Manager Dan Wilson stated "there's no question that it's going to sting" following his side's defeat at Rogers Centre, but praised their efforts throughout the year.

"It's a special team. Unfortunately that we ended up on the losing end of this one," he continued.

Toronto secured the championship on their two prior appearances in the early 90s, and are set to host the Dodgers in the opener on Friday.
