Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night indicating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and were in communication with the league office.

The organization did not mention the player by name in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the team selected in the second round.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

Rice missed the first six games of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people hurt. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice finished the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
