Trail Blazers head coach Billups was also arrested in connection with a sweeping FBI probe into sports betting. Both men deny the claims. But, the Miami team were not distracted as they scored 86 first-half points to lead Memphis by thirty-nine after two quarters, the biggest halftime lead in the franchise's 37-year history. Bam Adebayo top-scored with 24 scores and later said Terry had the support of the team. "We stand behind him. Complete backing," Bam said. "You support him through and through. He's like family ultimately." Miami head coach Erik Spoelstra commented: "Terry is a person who is important to all of us. He has made a real positive impact on our team. "We send our thoughts and support for him as he goes through this." The Trail Blazers also won their first game since the arrests, with Brazilian Tiago Splitter stepping in as interim coach in Chauncey's absence and guiding the team to a convincing 139-119 win against the Golden State Warriors. "Everyone experienced great experiences with Billups and how he coached," Splitter remarked. "We're thinking of him and his loved ones but our focus is on the game." NBA Commissioner Silver 'Upset' by Recent Events Speaking about the detentions for the first time, NBA commissioner Adam Silver stated he was "deeply disturbed" by the events of the recent days. "There's nothing more important to the league and its fans than the fairness of the game," he informed a broadcaster. "And so I felt uneasy. It was very upsetting." Silver also mentioned an league probe into the player's conduct in March 2023, when there was "aberrational betting" in a match he played for the Charlotte Hornets against the Pelicans, found nothing untoward. "We were informed by the authorities and the gambling firms," he continued. "We then looked into that situation and were open regarding it. And while there was the unusual wagering, we, frankly, found no evidence. "The federal government has legal authority... [it] can threaten to put people in jail, can take various actions that the NBA can't do. "So, we've been cooperating from that point. And, of course, what they announced recently was an indictment. "And two and a half years later, he still hasn't been convicted of anything, in fairness to Rozier. "Obviously, it doesn't look good, but he's been suspended, and so it is a compromise here between protecting people's rights and conducting an inquiry."
