Jennifer Lawrence has declared that she no longer feels appropriate to speak out countering the Trump government, worried it could worsen unhelpful debate and deepen rifts within the nation.

‘I’m Unsure If It’s Wise’, Says the Actress

Speaking with media, she shared, “During the first Trump administration, I felt like I was moving hastily like a chicken with my head cut off. But as we’ve learned, election after election, public figures do not make a difference whatsoever on who people vote for.”

The actor went on, “So then what am I doing? I’m just expressing personal views on a matter that’s going to add fuel to a fire dividing the country apart.”

Changing Allegiances

Jennifer Lawrence has admitted freely about supporting conservative and liberal candidates in past elections. Growing up with conservative Republicans in Kentucky, she cast her ballot for the Republican nominee in 2008 then moving to the Democrats and explaining she understood during the Obama era that voting Republican was undermining her own rights as a female citizen.

In 2015, she commented that a Trump victory might signal “a catastrophic event” and backed the Democratic candidate in the 2020 presidential race. In the latest campaign, she gave her endorsement to Kamala Harris, “because I think she’s an amazing candidate and I am confident that she will do whatever she can to safeguard women’s health rights.”

Hollywood’s Stance

The star was aligned with many in the entertainment industry in her disapproval of Donald Trump as a candidate for re-election, but the limited influence stars have over the voting intentions was highlighted by Trump’s victory.

“Another four years seems distinct,” commented she of Trump’s presidency. “Since he made his plans clear. We knew what he did for the previous administration. He was explicit. And that’s the option selected.”

The actress elaborated by stating that she was disheartened by “the hostility in the discussions of the political landscape right now and how that is going to be commonplace to the younger generation today. It’s going to be normal to them that politicians lie.”

“I felt anxiety for my son,” she said, “just picturing every negative outcome, and then doubting everything that I was attempting. I was seeing a therapist, but I got on a treatment called Zurzuvae and I took it for two weeks and it really helped.”
