A Marquee Acquisition for United Schüller, who has half a year left on her deal, is known as a consistent goalscorer for her club and the national team. She has scored more than 100 goals for the German giants and found the net 54 times in 82 appearances for Germany. This signing will be seen as a major signing for the Women’s Super League side. Departure from Bayern was expected since she appeared to be holding back emotions while thanking the club's fans after a win over Bayer Leverkusen recently. It was reported in late December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was set to lose one of its top strikers. Per reports, all the paperwork for the move have now been completed. Reliable Goal Threat to Strengthen the Attack The 28-year-old’s arrival is expected to provide a significant boost to United’s forward line. She has been remarkably consistent with her finishing in Germany’s top flight. For seven straight seasons, up to and including the last term, she reached at least a double-digit tally of league goals. She claimed the Golden Boot in the 2021-22 season with a haul of 16 goals. Gathering Momentum at Old Trafford The acquisition of the German international coincides with a period when the club seem to be building positive momentum. Recent on-pitch successes feature securing a place in the Champions League knockout phase playoffs as a seeded team and a win in the League Cup quarter-finals. Off the pitch, the mid-season window has brought additional business: The signing of Sweden defender Hanna Lundkvist on a multi-year deal. The new deal for Japanese playmaker Hinata Miyazawa, who has become fan favourite since arriving in 2023. On the midfielder's extension, a club official stated: “She has become a critical part to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and skill allows her and the team to control and dictate play from central areas.” The new defender, having joined from a side from the NWSL, added: “You can feel how much they [United] have grown in the last few years, playing in one of the most competitive leagues in the world and performing in the top European competition.”
