Not that you would expect the hosts to sympathise with that given their own lack of preparation time. The Swiss attacker forced a full length save out of visiting goalkeeper Senne Lammens with a spectacular overhead kick, and United heads were in hands when the Slovenian striker, who is struggling to make an impact, turned Zirkzee's cut-back wide from close range. The goalscorer, who had a goal ruled out for offside much earlier in the contest, also fired against a post late on. The point extends Leeds' unbeaten run to seven games, their longest such streak since 2001, and takes them a significant margin clear of the drop zone. For the visitors though, it was yet another chance to move into the Champions League places, albeit only for a matter of hours, wasted. Man Utd Analysis: Amorim's Side Misfire Again With the Africa Cup of Nations reaching its latter stages, Amorim could be understood for hoping the involved countries make a pretty quick exit. Current injuries to skipper Bruno Fernandes and England international Mason Mount only exacerbated the impact the absence of other forwards is having on the team's squad. It's not that the absent players are the answer to all of the club's problems. After all, they were part of the side that suffered poor results earlier in the campaign. But without them, the boss has few alternatives in attack. He evidently does not trust youngster Shea Lacey or the seasoned Zirkzee, even though the Dutch forward provided the through ball for Cunha's equaliser almost immediately after his introduction as a replacement. That leaves the Brazilian, who has now scored a small tally in five games, and others operating out of their preferred positions, alongside Benjamin Sesko. On this evidence, the expensive frontman looks similar to previous struggling signings, lacking in confidence and conviction in front of goal. His failure to turn home the cross means it is now a long run without a goal for the young striker. Leeds Analysis: Another Step Towards Survival After thrilling victories in their last few home games, the arrival of their fiercest rivals to home was a comparatively subdued affair. True, there were moments of typical atmosphere, but the intimidating edge was not as pronounced as in previous encounters. The home fans were more preoccupied about their side's struggle to get worthwhile possession in advanced areas for any prolonged period. The striker's header that clipped the post was an isolated moment of quality in a congested first half. It still felt as though the hosts were finding it tough when a mistake opened the door for Aaronson. Ever so briefly, The home delirious fans thought they were about to secure a rare win against Manchester United. Nevertheless, there is a much bigger picture for the manager and the club to deal with. When they endured a poor run of form earlier in the season, many thought about the manager's position. Instead, he is now overseeing clear improvement. The task is not completed yet but step by step, Leeds are getting closer to securing their survival. Looking Ahead The Yorkshire club have a top-flight trip to Newcastle in midweek, followed by the start of their domestic cup campaign next weekend.
