Previous British Broadcasting Corporation Advisers Undergo Members of Parliament's Questioning In the Wake of Assertions of Bias in Unauthorized Memorandum

Previous British Broadcasting Corporation advisers testifying before parliamentary committee

We start with queries from Conservative MP the panel's head, who chairs the committee.

She initiates by offering background to the leaked memorandum authored by Michael Prescott and published in a national newspaper.

"I do not desire the British Broadcasting Corporation slanting toward one side or the other, I simply desire it neutral, impartial and equitable," he says.

Upon being questioned whether he believes the BBC is institutionally biased, the adviser responds: "Absolutely not. It is important to note, tons of stuff the BBC creates is top-tier - encompassing informative and entertainment content."

But he adds: "There exists real work that needs to be done at the British Broadcasting Corporation."

The second previous consultant British Broadcasting Corporation adviser examined by the panel, Caroline Daniel, states she takes the BBC extremely earnestly and that it operates a "persistent practice and lively discussion" on evolving and intricate topics.

"Whether the BBC was prepared to have a genuine dialogue and argument and implement changes?" she reflects. "From my perspective, affirmative, they were."
